Geographic Memory : A photo and Found Art Journey
Art By Noelle Dames
Every day is a photo shoot and an opportunity to annoy my daughter or friends—pausing for a shadow, the reflected collage of a window jawn, or something intriguing low to the ground. Curated from 39,000 photos in my archives, this exhibit is a tribute to nostalgia, decay, loss, creation, and the evolution of old-school Philly and beyond.
To capture movement, transition, depth, pattern, and texture, I’ve explored techniques such as lenticular processes, weaving, kintsugi, and embroidery. My assemblages weave together rescued orphan photos, textiles, vintage roller skates reimagined as urns inspired by Ghanaian fantasy coffins, and the enchanting Nina Effect™—chandelier crystals that play peek-a-boo with images.
Proceeds from each piece will benefit a designated charity, as noted.
Saturday, February 22nd to Saturday, April 5th
